Our friends, Eric & Julie, over at 365 Hawaii have another great video for you…
We went BEAST mode when we explored and hiked on Oahu recently for a weekend island hop.
One of the main things we wanted to accomplish on this trip was to hike up to the top of Koko Crater (Pu’u Mai) a .7 mile 1000 foot straight up challenge! The scenery at the top was unbelievable with amazing views of Honolulu, Hanauma Bay, Sandy Beach, and Diamond Head Crater. Although our legs hurt from the hike on Saturday, we hiked the Makapu’u Lighthouse Point Trail on Sunday, a 2.5 mile paved road up to see the lighthouse and a sweeping view of the eastern side of the island.
On Saturday, after our intense hike, we decided to take our teenage son to the I’olani Palace in downtown Honolulu, as he is currently studying Hawaiian history. That was a VERY moving tour of the home the monarchy used to host heads of state from around the world. It ended up being a place where the Queen would spend imprisoned.
We also have seen enough Jaime O’Brien surf videos, that we wanted to see where the action takes place at Banzai Pipeline /Ehukai beach on the North Shore. We droned the Dole Plantation to show you as we headed to Rock Pile beach and sat on one of the longest beaches in Hawaii! The sunset was gorgeous and the waves super TASTY! lol.
Dinner was found at a taco truck in Hale’iwa Town and then what you don’t see, is us finding our teenagers shopping in downtown Waikiki!
We covered alot of ground and enjoyed the vibrancy and fun of Oahu. We hope you enjoy the tour!
