Our friends, Eric & Julie, over at 365 Hawaii have another great video for you…
Do you love waterfalls in Hawaii? We take you on a one day adventure to the biggest and best waterfalls on Hawaii Island to include Akaka Falls, Rainbow Falls and Boiling Pots/Pe’ePe’e Falls AND lunch at a "watery" view restaurant, Pond’s in Hilo. We also take you to a cute roadside area where you can get fresh coconut water from the coconut (fun photo opportunity!) and local grown pineapple and sugar cane.
Best part about these waterfalls is that they are accessible and offer safe viewing areas for everyone. Be sure to read the information signs available at all three viewing areas. You will learn the history of each, pick up some Hawaiian language and learn about the geologic forces that created these magnificent falls. (Mauna Loa was at work here!)
If you go: Bring an umbrella or rain ponchos in the extreme possibility of rain! If you go during the summer, mosquito repellant is a good bet.
We discuss rivers and waterfalls on Hawaii Island a bit in this video. The watersheds are actually fascinating!
